INTRODUCING THE WORLD’S FIRST FOLDING ELECTRIC GUITAR

The world’s first folding electric guitar will be introduced at the Musikmesse in Frankfurt on March 28 2007. The Centerfold guitar solves a transport problem that every guitarist has experienced.

”The ’magical’ thing is that the guitar can be played directly after it’s been unfolded and it’s just as tuned as when it was folded away”, says Leif Rehnström, Managing Director of the newly started DeVillain Guitar Company in Skellefteå, Sweden.

Behind the development of the folding guitar, patent applied for in Europe, Japan and USA, is SAS airline pilot Fredrik Johansson. He is a devoted guitarist but couldn’t take his instrument with him on flights around the world. During the last ten years, Fredrik has been working on the development of a folding guitar that could easily be taken on a plane.

”The resulting product not only solves the problem he was experiencing but also that of all the other guitarists who are fed up carrying their cumbersome guitar cases on buses, subways, bikes…”, says Leif Rehnström, who has sworn over these transport difficulties many times after several years as a professional musician, with power pop group The Drowners among others.

You don’t even have to take the strings off when you fold the neck of the Centerfold, as they are rolled up by the guitar.

”Other guitarists can’t believe it when I tell them. I didn’t believe it either before Fredrik showed me his prototype.”

Cooperation with international performers

At the Musikmesse in Frankfurt, the leading fair in the world for music instruments with exhibitors from around 50 countries, DeVillain will come into contact with industry people from around the world.

”The electric guitar is one of the world’s most popular instruments and the market is gigantic. This can be really big”, believes Rehnström.

The DeVillain Guitar Company will be announcing their cooperation with a number of world famous stars at the Musikmesse.

”The first series produced Centerfold will then be presented to rock group Sahara Hotnights’ guitarist Jennie Asplund. Many guitarists are standing in line to buy a guitar from us.”

The DeVillain Guitar Company is based in Skellefteå, northern Sweden, and besides Fredrik Johansson and Leif Rehnström, Skellefteå company B-park is also a partner.

”Manufacturing of the parts for the guitar is all being done at businesses in the north of Sweden.” One of the leading guitar makers in Sweden, Leif Jakobsson, is hand-making all the wooden parts to Centerfold. ”That’s a guarantee for high quality work throughout”, Leif Rehnström concludes.

DeVillain’s folding electric guitar will be shown for the first time at stand 4.0 J59 at the Musikmesse in Frankfurt am Main on the 28-30 March.

Features
Features a select alder body, 21-fret maple neck with your choice of a rosewood or maple fretboard, 3 single-coil pickups, a vintage tremolo, and die-cast tuning keys. Standard Strats now feature a thicker bridge block for increased sustain and a more stable point of contact with the strings. The most useful features on the strat are probably the knobs. They come in handy when you want to shut the guitar off without turning off the amp. Also there are two tone knobs on it which are very nice too.

Quality

Although this guitar is relative low price, the Fender doesn’t forget its quality. Came from famous manufacturer, you can trust the quality from this guitar. Some user said that the Mexican version is least good than American version, but we can said both version is in good quality. The wood is finished and fit perfect. Everything feels solid and fits well.

 

Few strat users, complain about cheap plastic pickguard, cheap pickups neck into body, the headstock isnt bent at all so the strings go out of tune. But almost all users said that this guitar is best guitar in its price.

 

Sound

This is a contoured top electric guitar which has a solid basswood body and a 25 1/2″ scale Maple bolt-on neck with 24 frets and dot inlays on a Rosewood fingerboard. The neck width at the nut is 1 11/16″, and the neck has a modern and sleek feel with a 14″ radius.

The Omen-7 is a new addition to Schecter’s Diamond Series line. Powered by two high output Diamond humbuckers, this 7-String is suitable for many styles of music; from Metal to Jazz. In short, the Omen-7 is a no frills version of the extremely popular C-7.

 

The hardware is chrome with deluxe tuners, two Diamond Plus high output humbucker pickups, 1 Volume/1 Tone Control with 3-way selector switch, and a tune-o-matic bridge with string-thru body construction. Delivery for left handed may take longer than normal.

 

Best Guitar for the price

This guitar is a great guitar, probably the best 7-string you can get for the price. It very comfortable, and the playability may be abit low in the beginning, as it has a thicker neck for the seventh string, but you’ll come across this problem very quickly. The pups sound really good actually. The wood is made of basswood, a very balanced wood which is not that heavy.
