Ibanez UV777 Steve Vai 7-String Jem Electric Guitar

Ibanez UV777 Steve Vai 7-String Jem Electric GuitarBasswood body. Five-piece maple/wenge neck. DiMarzio pickups. Edge Pro 7 bridge.

The debut of the Steve Vai’s JEM in 1987 and the introduction of his Universe 7-string changed everything. It’s impossible to think of any one person who has done more for the evolution of Ibanez guitars than Steve Vai. The contoured basswood body with 24-fret Prestige JEM neck provides easy access to all registers. The deep routed tremolo cavity allows pitches to be lowered or raised. Vai’s choice of specific DiMarzio pickups, combined with Ibanez Split-5 wiring, provide incredible tonal versatility. Steve Vai’s Universe — the guitar that ignited the 7-string revolution — allows almost effortless transition from 6- to 7-string techniques.

Feature:
Includes all the tools you’ll need to change strings, adjust action, and setup. Whammy bar is included, and is very easy to just snap in, and doesn’t come loose. However, recently, Ibanez has had some defective volume pots, which freeze up and refuse to turn. The guitar is made out of a Basswood body, 5 piece maple/winged neck, features the Edge Pro Bridge, and the DiMarzio blaze pickups. Fretted without large frets (Not jumbo.)

Quality:
This is a very awesome guitar. Probably the best 7 string on the market. The majority of good 7-strings have come from Ibanez, and this is no exception. Without splurging money for the top of the line, this is one of the best you can get.  Anyone that thinks this guitar is a piece of junk clearly has his head to far up his ass to really see how wonderful an instrument it is.

The sound is incredibly good with just the stock hardware. The bottom end isn’t muddied out even when down-tuned to A, and the bridge crunch is still heavy. The neck position through a clean channel is also surprisingly beautiful and not too thick.

Value:
This is a great guitar if you aren’t looking to spend $1500+ on a signature or custom made 7-string, and still get a great value and sound. This thing is also a work of art. The binding, disappearing pyramid inlays, and the all seeing eye below the bridge are a sight to behold, and give the guitar a mystical appearance. You can tell this guitar was built with the intention to stand the test of time.  Check Latest Price.

Sound:
It sounds really great. Dimarzio pickups are awesome. They give off a really good sound for any style of music, and not to muddy or anything.

The Blazes in this guitar are very tight, and back off the midst. Great clean sounds on position 4 with the coil splitting in the neck humbucker. This guitar sounds HUGE. It’ll add more depth to all the six string stuff you already do. The DiMarzio Blaze pickups are GREAT. IMO, they are the best 7 string pickups. Running through amp, it gets the tone who looking for. The sustain is great.

Ease of use:
This guitar has a very smooth on finished neck (very fast), and a comfortable feel at the bridge. Rest that palm with any pitch warbling like many floating bridges can do. Ibanez put a lower bass line on guitar and allows you to play in the lower chord (based on 6-strings ordinary guitars). Pretty great stuff!

Variety of sounds at your fingertips with a HSH pickup configuration, and 5 way toggle. If you are coming from a six to a seven, the transition is very easy with this guitar.

Desirability:
This guitar is the sexiest thing ever. The cosmetics are outstanding on it, and will leave you Gassing for one the minute you see it. Beautiful guitar, but the pearl and stuff just drives the price up. You really don’t need all that stuff.

Overall:
With out all that pearl and stuff it’s still an amazing, beautiful looking and sounding guitar. Extremely satisfied with all  universes. They all play great and are worth their weight in gold.
