Obsessed with digital guitar, misadigital.com (based in Sydney, Australia) created a unique stringless touchscreen guitar. The guitar sound is generated from the computer inside the guitar. It will be emulated using MIDI sound.

The Misa digital guitar is a MIDI controller. It must be plugged into a MIDI capable sound module. The sound of this instrument is limited only by what you connect to it.

Specifications: Linux kernel 2.6.31 (Gentoo); 24 frets; touchscreen; MIDI out; Ethernet; and SSH server.

Video

Guitar Details

The guitar itself is CNC machined out of solid ABS plastic. This is an extremely solid body, not like injection moulded plastic which is thin, lightweight and hollow.

The screen is an 8.4″ LCD 800×600 resolution. The CPU is a 500MHz x86 compatible AMD Geode which makes life easier, I guess. The operating system is Gentoo Linux which I’ve stripped down to be as lean as possible. Graphics (framebuffer access) is done with DirectFB which acts as a fast layer on top of the hardware.

The neck is 144 “keycaps” sitting on top of a special keymat that I had tooled. They are not pressure sensitive – but I made the decision early on not to include this because I don’t feel it is neccessary, it would make the instrument harder to play and less reliable.

If you want to purchase this guitar please click here.

The new Gibson Zoot Suit SG guitar is the ultimate for stage style and playability. The word “Zoot” is jazz slang meaning extravagant style to which this guitar encapsulates. At first glance, one might think that the unique coloration of the Zoot Suit guitar is simply a clever paint scheme. Incredibly though, there is no paint used on the guitar.

The Zoot Suit
The body of the Zoot Suit features a brand new body built with multiple birch wood laminate pieces (each one approximately .075” thick), each dyed with a different color then compressed and bonded together to form one solid block of wood. No paint is used. Each body is given two coats of satin nitrocellulose lacquer.

By reorienting the dyed laminates opposite from the body, you can view the pin-stripe color pattern through relief designs that have been machined out of the head veneers, which also allows maximum strength to the overall structure of the neck.

Featuring a brand new body built with multiple birch wood laminate, each laminate piece is dyed with a different color then compressed and bonded together to form one solid block of wood. Two coats of satin lacquer are then applied to provide a smooth finish and also help protect the body from any damage.

Unique
Standard sg features. The features are less in the mechanics thaqnin the body which is unique and gorgeous. Plays well, good action and tone.Im sure it will outlive me. It is a tad heavy if they could fix that with some routing like they did on the les paul.

Guitar For Your Children
Size is a primary concern when buying a guitar for a child under the age of ten. It is important that the guitar not be too large for your child or they will not be comfortable playing it. A starter pack is usually a pretty smart buy for your first guitar. Because you will need to buy the extras that come in a starter pack anyway, you end up saving money and getting everything you need in one convenient package. An electronic tuner is inexpensive and really vital for a young musician and we highly recommend that you get one in addition to your guitar.

The Guitar
The Rockwood Jr. is a scaled down 1/2 size guitar that is perfect for the young beginner. Just like the full size Rockwoods, the Jr. comes complete as a double cutaway, solid body made of select hardwood with 24 frets on a rosewood fretboard, covered tuners and is equipped with 1 single coil pickup. This package comes complete with all of the accessories needed to get playing today.

Includes HEG250 Mini Electric Guitar (30″, suitable for age 4-7), guitar gig bag, mini amplifier, pitch pipe, cable, strap, picks and extra strings.

Estimate Price: $100.99

About Les Paul from wikipedia:

Lester William Polsfuss (June 9, 1915 – August 12, 2009) known as Les Paul — was an American jazz and country guitarist, songwriter and inventor. He was a pioneer in the development of the solid-body electric guitar which “made the sound of rock and roll possible”. He is credited with many recording innovations, including overdubbing (also known as sound on sound), delay effects such as tape delay, phasing effects, and multitrack recording.

His innovative talents extended into his playing style, including licks, trills, chording sequences, fretting techniques and timing, which set him apart from his contemporaries and inspired many of the guitarists of the present day. He recorded with his wife Mary Ford in the 1950s and they sold millions of records.

Among his many honors, Paul is one of a handful of artists with a permanent, stand-alone exhibit in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He is prominently named by the music museum on its website as an “architect” and a “key inductee” along with Sam Phillips and Alan Freed.

Guitar Builder

Paul’s innovative guitar, “The Log”, built after-hours in the Epiphone guitar factory in 1940, was one of the first solid-body electric guitars. Adolph Rickenbacker had marketed a solid-body guitar in the 1930s and Leo Fender also independently created his own in 1946. Although Paul approached the Gibson Guitar Corporation with his idea of a solid body electric guitar, they showed no interest until Fender began marketing its Esquire and Telecaster models. Gibson designed a guitar incorporating Paul’s suggestions in the early 1950s and presented it to him to try. He was impressed enough to sign a endorsement contract for what became the Gibson “Les Paul” model, originally only in a “gold-top” version (official name: “Les Paul Standard”), and agreed never to be seen playing in public, or be photographed, with anything other than a Gibson guitar.

The arrangement persisted until 1961, when declining sales prompted Gibson to change the design without Paul’s knowledge, creating a much thinner, lighter, and more-aggressive-looking instrument with two cutaway “horns” instead of one. Paul said he first saw the “new” Gibson Les Paul in a music-store window, and disliked it. Although his contract required him to pose with the guitar, he said it was not “his” instrument and asked Gibson to remove his name from the headstock. Others claimed that Paul ended his endorsement contract with Gibson during his divorce to avoid having his wife get his endorsement money. Gibson renamed the guitar “Gibson SG”, which stands for “Solid Guitar”, and it also became one of the company’s best sellers.

The original Gibson Les Paul-guitar design regained popularity when Eric Clapton began playing the instrument a few years later, although he also played an SG and an ES-335. Paul resumed his relationship with Gibson and endorsed the original Gibson Les Paul guitar from that point onwards. His personal Gibson Les Pauls were much modified by him—Paul always used his own self-wound pickups and customized methods of switching between pickups on his guitars[citation needed]. To this day, various models of Gibson Les Paul guitars are used all over the world by both novice and professional guitarists. A less-expensive version of the Gibson Les Paul guitar is also manufactured for Gibson’s lower-priced Epiphone brand.

All Traveler guitars come with the heavy duty nylon carry bag

The Speedster is the electric evolution of our Pro-Series. Known best for its removable “tear drop” upper arm support and engine turned accents, the Speedster is loaded with a high output blade humbucker for the classic tones of today and yesterday. With the look, feel, and sound of a full size solid body electric, the Speedster is great for the rocker on the run. Check reviews!

Features:
It has 22 frets, with single volume and tone controls and a raised cord jack.
The body is a one-piece carving from maple with a pal ferro fretboard with screwed in separate pieces that serve as guards for the tuners and a detachable arm rest. The neck is really fine–24 2/4 inch scale, but with a slimmer profile than a Gibson, closer to Fender Strat. Very nice design combo. soft case, instruction book (needed) and your very own pick. Click here for more features!

Quality:
It comes with a single-coil sized hot rail humbucker that sounds pretty thin. As a result, this would never be a gigging guitar. But in combination with Pandora and iPod, it is extremely compact and goes with everywhere. The action is adjustable by lowering or raising the roller bridge (Very cool).

From the neck, paint, pick up and over all sound it is amazing. If you are looking for something smaller than the acoustics and want that electric feel and sound this is it. If you buy a Korg PX3 and hook it up to your IPod you can rock the night away and never disturb a soul. The neck is full-sized, so it works fine for the fat-fingered. The action was fantastic right from the store. Check Latest Price.

The tuning pegs are awkwardly positioned making it a bit of a chore to tune and the rolling bridge and wrap-around string configuration can cause inconsistent string-tension making tuning even worse. But it’s well worth it to lose the headstock and save on precious space. And heck, it’s still easier to tune than a guitar with a floating trem.

Sound:
Plug in your headphones so you dont bother anyone else and it still sounds completely amazing! This feels and sounds better than Ibanez solid body or Epiphone 335 clone. Someone has taken to playing this guitar more and more around the house in addition to when traveling. Keeps its tune better than feared. Great work Traveler! It sounds great for a single pick-up electric guitar.

Ease of Use:
Takes a while to get used to the unusual tuning mechanism, but great once you are used to it. Extremely easy unlined the backpacker or the Washburn rover

Value:
Great travel guitar. Check latest price.

Desirability:
Because of the size and conveniences of this guitar, you will take it everywhere and play more often. Because you play more often you will get better.

Overall:
Best travel guitar in the world. The thing with like most about the Speedster is its extreme portability and convenience, yet it feels neck-wise like full-size guitars. The compared the Speedster to the Steinberger Spirit, but the neck was not the same at all. The wish it had twin humbuckers.
