The new Gibson Zoot Suit SG guitar is the ultimate for stage style and playability. The word “Zoot” is jazz slang meaning extravagant style to which this guitar encapsulates. At first glance, one might think that the unique coloration of the Zoot Suit guitar is simply a clever paint scheme. Incredibly though, there is no paint used on the guitar.

The Zoot Suit
The body of the Zoot Suit features a brand new body built with multiple birch wood laminate pieces (each one approximately .075” thick), each dyed with a different color then compressed and bonded together to form one solid block of wood. No paint is used. Each body is given two coats of satin nitrocellulose lacquer.

By reorienting the dyed laminates opposite from the body, you can view the pin-stripe color pattern through relief designs that have been machined out of the head veneers, which also allows maximum strength to the overall structure of the neck.

Featuring a brand new body built with multiple birch wood laminate, each laminate piece is dyed with a different color then compressed and bonded together to form one solid block of wood. Two coats of satin lacquer are then applied to provide a smooth finish and also help protect the body from any damage.

Unique
Standard sg features. The features are less in the mechanics thaqnin the body which is unique and gorgeous. Plays well, good action and tone.Im sure it will outlive me. It is a tad heavy if they could fix that with some routing like they did on the les paul.

The Nighthawk
This lusty guitar, which resembles its larger Les Paul cousin but with more defined curves, has become a cult favorite since it was discontinued in 1999, after only six years in production. The original Nighthawk was conceived of in response to the demand for a more modern silhouette and a multitude of tone options.

Today’s version is still all about a guitarist keeping his options open. With two volume controls, a master tone knob and two heavy-duty pickups, guitarists can experiment with endless sounds. If tone alone weren’t enough to carry this instrument, Gibson luthiers have labored to create an exquisite-looking guitar

It features a gorgeous non-arched AAA maple top on a bound, thin-contoured, single cutaway body and a 22-fret bound rosewood neck on a set mahogany neck. The Limited Run Nighthawk ’09 is loaded with two of Gibson’s most outstanding pickups to produce a rare combination of tones. Widely known as Gibson’s first successful single-coil pickup, the lean and mean P-90 (neck) offers a stellar combination of high output and biting treble response.

The Explorer
The Explorer has been a total declaration of everything rock and roll. Gibson is now proud to introduce the latest chapter in the life of the Explorer – the Tribal Explorer, part of Gibson USA’s 2009 Limited Run Series of guitars. An instrument truly honed for the contemporary rock and roller, the new Tribal Explorer features a solid mahogany body and neck dressed in a custom white finish.

The Tribal Explorer updates the original Explorer’s iconic lines with a sizzling new power train designed to offer the muscle and versatility demanded by the 21st century rocker. A pair of Gibson’s own uncovered ceramic-magnet humbucking pickups—a 496R in the neck and a 500T in the bridge—maximize output and sustain while retaining clarity and string definition.

Through a clean channel, they offer thumping lows and sweet highs; injected into a high-gain amp, however, they really come into their own, yielding eviscerating midrange and sizzling lead tones, with nearly endless sustain when desired. The Tribal Explorer adds an extra dimension to the rock action with a factory mounted Kahler Tremolo system. The ultimate tailpiece for anything from deep divebombing to subtle vibrato effects, the Kahler is partnered by a Corian nut and locking Grover kidney tuners to get it all right back to pitch, however extreme your action. The entire package is rendered with Gibson’s legendary playability, with 22 jumbo frets, and a 24-3/4″ scale length.

Whether you’re a player seeking a professional rock and roll guitar, or a collector in search of that ultimate trophy piece, the new 2009 Limited Run Series Tribal Explorer from Gibson USA is an axe worth grinding. Each 2009 Limited Run Series model is restricted to just 350 guitars, and each comes with a black Gibson hardshell case and a special Limited Run.

Limited Carved Top in Autumn Burst
For the first time on an SG, a hand-carved, highly-figured maple top rises unexpectedly from the traditional – yet still radical – dual-horned mahogany body. A clash of style and attitude! A high-gloss Autumn Burst nitro finish brings out the full depth of the maple’s stunning grain. It also delivers the sonic quality and sustain of Gibson’s legendary Les Pauls. The setting a fresh precedent for style, function and design just like the original SG model did in 1960.

The famed craftsmen at Gibson USA have applied a gently hand-carved arch to an AAA-grade maple cap atop a solid mahogany body, and given it a gloss Autumn Burst nitrocellulose finish to bring out the full depth of its stunning grain.

The SG Carved Top Autumn Burst is also an extremely playable instrument. It has Gibson’s famously fast and comfortable neck, with two extra frets for enhanced upper-neck lead work — a total of 24 jumbo frets — and the traditional 24-3/4″ scale length and 1-11/16″ neck width at the nut.

The SG Carved Top Autumn Burst has all of its predecessor’s performance appeal, and then some. Whether you’re a player looking for a distinctive new stage guitar, or a collector seeking a rare new acquisition, this is a highly desirable release.

Epiphone Guitar announced the release of the Limited Edition Roy Orbison 12-String Signature Acoustic model. Produced in cooperation with the legendary singer/songwriter Roy Orbison’s estate, the model is based upon Roy’s own 1962 Epiphone “Bard” 12-string acoustic guitar. Orbison used his original Epiphone acoustic to write and perform many of his most well-known songs including perhaps his biggest hit, “Oh, Pretty Woman.”

Legendary Instrument
A faithful reproduction of the 1962 Bard, this rich sounding 12-string features a solid spruce top with hand-scalloped bracing, a solid mahogany back, a rosewood 12-string bridge and vintage tuners. As an added touch of authenticity, Epiphone adds the a replica of the original blue rectangular sound hole label used during the famous Kalamazoo, MI years.

For this limited edition release, the back of the guitar’s headstock includes a replica of Roy Orbison’s signature and the notation for the first measure of the famous song’s introduction riff. Also included is a hard case with Roy’s signature and “sunglass” icon on it, a certificate of authenticity hand signed by Barbara Orbison and Roy’s son Roy Orbison Jr., a black and white photo of Roy with his original Epiphone Bard 12-string, a sunglass lapel pin and a copy of the “Oh Pretty Woman” sheet music. The certificate and photo come in a leatherette presentation binder.

The first of the 2009 Limited Run Series guitars from Gibson USA
The neck on the Holy Explorer retains the traditional characteristics of the original Explorer neck – 24¾-inch scale, 22 frets, rosewood fingerboard and figured acrylic dot inlays. The Holy Explorer also sports a single volume control perfectly positioned for swells, and two of humbucker pickups.

The Holy Explorer features include six in-line mini Grover tuners, which deliver smooth tuning action and accuracy, Gibson’s traditional stop bar tailpiece and Tune-o-matic bridge, and a customized Limited Run Series certificate of authenticity and Gibson USA hardshell case with a white silkscreened logo. The new Holy Explorer is limited to just 350 guitars.

There’s just a single volume control, positioned for easy pinky-finger volume swells, and a three-way pickup selector — nothing superfluous to get in the way of you and your tone.

The Holy Explorer also retains its ancestor’s distinctive “drooping” headstock with six-in-line tuners, which in this case are Grover Mini tuners. The guitar is also fitted with a 1-11/16″-wide Corian nut and Gibson’s traditional stop bar tailpiece and Tune-o-matic bridge, which keeps everything firmly anchored and ready to wail.
